Field Trip

Metropolitan Museum of Art
82nd St & Fifth Ave.

Print out and bring with you the Artworks List of several large-scale artworks that we will look at. We will meet in the lobby of the Metropolitan Museum of Art at 2:15 PM on the day of our visit.

Bring a camera and a sketchbook. As you look at the artwork, take photographs (if allowed) of any work that is of interest to you. Also make notes and/or sketches of thoughts or observations you have as you look at the work.

After looking at all the artworks together, you should select one artwork to focus on. This may be one of the ones on my list, or it may be some other large-scale artwork of interest to you in the museum.

By the end of the day this Friday, assemble your notes, sketches, and/or photos and put them onto your blog page for this course. Do this before the end of Friday. This is so that the other students will have time over the weekend to look at what you posted.

Additionally, write a 2 - 4 page paper of about the one artwork you chose to focus on. Include illustrations or sketches as appropriate. Put your paper into PDF format and post it to your blog. This must be done before the start of our next class on Monday.

Reminder: Bring your Pratt ID card. The Met offers a reduced rate for students.
