Research Presentation & Paper

Research some area of large-scale imaging.  For your topic, select an artist, or a specific artwork, or a group of artists, or an art format, etc.  Your topic may be from any era and from any culture.  It may or may not involve digital technologies.  Your primary focus should be on the artistic aspects of the work, rather than only the technical, although it is perfectly appropriate and you are encouraged to also consider the technical aspects of the art. As you research, think especially of how this work relates to your own work.

Prepare a 15-minute presentation for the class.  Do not limit yourself to simply recounting facts. Remember that the point of this research is how the work researched relates to your own work, so be prepared to discuss why you found the artwork you researched interesting.

Also, write a 3-4 page paper summarizing your research and how it relates to your own work.  Include images to supplement your writing.  On the day of your presentation, hand in a hard-copy printout of your paper to me. You should also post your paper as a PDF file to your blog page.

A schedule of these presentations is posted on my website.
