Assignment #1

due Feb. 24(week 5)

This assignment consists of work in progress for your semester-long project.   Since this assignment comes at the 1/3 point of the semester, you should have done approximately one-third of your total project.

Specifically, you should have and hand in the following at a minimum:

·       Project Description: Write a short (approximately 100 - 200 words) paper describing your project, its underlying concepts and/or issues.  This can be derived from, but is in addition to, any written writings you may have given me earlier.

·       Technical testing:  You should have tested and/or researched out most of the technical issues you foresee for the project, including the effects of the scale on fabrication, printing, and installation. Include materials to support your work on these technical issues. This could be a written summary, sheets of data, sketches.  Make sure your materials are organized enough that they will be comprehensible to me.

·       Visual composition work:  You should have worked out at least many of the  compositional issues by this stage – what the project is going to look like, elements that will be used, color palette, etc.  Include materials to support your progress on these compositional issues.

·       Two-dimensional scale mockup of your project:  This can be done in Photoshop or Illustrator or a similar program.  It should show a human figure plus a sketch or rough of your visual project, with both scaled relative to each other.  Based on your scale tests, indicate the expected dimensions of your project.

On the due date, hand in to me all of the above on a disk. Also post to your blog samples of all of the above.
