Semester-Long Project
Description

This semester-long project consists of conceiving, researching, designing with Maya software, and physically producing one larg medium-to-large-scale three-dimensional artwork.  For the purposes of this course, "medium-to-large-scale" here means larger than approximately 2 feet cubed.  For very large artworks, a scale model of this size may suffice. Design and production of the artwork may use any combination of techniques presented in this course along with any other appropriate techniques. The artwork you produce should, of course, be artistically substantive.  It should also have valid reasons for being the size it is.

The production of each project will be divided into two stages. The first stage consists of conceiving, researching, and beginning to model your project. The second stage consists of completing the modeling and fabricating your project.

As you conclude your project in the final weeks of the semester, you will write an set of artist's statements and finally install and exhibit your completed projects. Accompanying your installed artwork you will place an identifying label and your short artist's statement. These should be printed on paper and mounted onto some sort of board.
