DDA 500, From Virtual to Physical
This semester-long project
consists of conceiving, researching, designing with Maya software,
and physically producing one larg medium-to-large-scale three-dimensional artwork. For the purposes of this course,
"medium-to-large-scale" here means larger than approximately 2 feet cubed. For very large artworks, a scale model of this size may suffice. Design and production of the artwork may use any combination of techniques presented in this course along with any other appropriate techniques. The artwork you produce
should, of course, be artistically substantive.
It should also have valid reasons for being the size it is.
Stage 2 -- Final: due May 7 (Session 15, last session)
Note: You are strongly! advised to complete this project one week prior to this due date to allow for: a) mistakes; and b) installation.
The second stage consists of completing the modeling and fabricating your project. By the due date, your project should be completed and installed somewhere in the DDA spaces or some other space at Pratt. Location of installation is to be discussed and agreed on with instructor. On the due date, also hand in on a CD or DVD disk all relevant digital files.
