Assignment #2

(Part of Project #2)

Due Apr. 3 (11 th session)

For a description of the whole project, see Project #2.

Before class on the due date for this assignment, post to your blog the material listed below. Organize your blog so that things are easy to find, the images are of reasonable resolution, etc. You do not need to hand in any physical materials for this assignment; all hand-ins should be posted to your blog.

1.     A written verbal synopsis of your story (100 words or less).  This is the core idea of the story. Include a notation of how this animation would be produced – 2d hand-drawn, 3d computer, claymation, etc. Post as a PDF file to your blog.

2.     A preliminary rough verbal treatment of your story. Post as a PDF to your blog.

3.     Concept/design sketches and/or physical models for all the principle assets of your story -- that is, for the principle characters, scenes, environments, and props of your story. For all principle assets, produce at least one high-quality full-color rendering. For each principle character do turnaround-drawings or models as well as expression drawings or models. (These do not yet have to be full-color.).  It is understood that these designs may change as you continue to develop your project, but you must have a first complete version of all this by this date. Post as image files, of good enough resolution that we can see details as necessary.

4.     A preliminary rough storyboard for your entire story.  Panels do not need to be full-color, but drawings must be developed enough to clearly convey the action, camera angle, etc. Include verbal descriptions and icons as appropriate. Include verbal decriptions of soundtrack. Post to your blog as a good quality PDF.

4.     If you worked as a team, post to your blog a list of which team members did which portions of the work. Post as a PDF.

6.     If you worked as a team, email back to me the self-evaluation forms that I will provide you. (Do NOT post these to your blog.)

Your grade will be based on the quality of thought and quality of execution of all the elements.  For teams, your grade will be a function of these for the final hand-in, plus your individual contribution to the project.
