DDA-610, Digital Arts Practicum
Critical Essay paper
For this paper you should select a few artworks that you have seen during any of your visits this semester to galleries, museums, or exhibitions. (Three is a good number, but it does not have to be exactly three.) Write about your thoughts and reactions to those artworks. The artworks you select should be related in some way -- because of similarities, because of differences. The paper you write should not be three separate essays about three separate artworks. All that you write here should be interconnected and interrelated. The idea here is for you to do some hard thinking about some artwork and how different artworks might or might not relate to each other.
The content of what you write may vary depending on your interests. You might write about your personal reactions to the artworks. You might write about how the artworks relate to some contemporary ideas -- or to some historical movements, or to some philosophical issue, or some art-theory issues. You could include comments about technical issues if they somehow relate to the impact of the artworks.
Whatever you write, it should be thoughtful and it should be about the artworks, not just about you. Think of your audience for this paper as other knowledgable people in your field. Also, assume that your reader is not only knowledgable, but also very smart.
Include illustrations as appropriate.
Your paper should be approximately two-three pages in length, and neatly formatted.
Your paper should be handed in in two formats:
A) A hardcopy printout on paper
B) A
PDF file which you post to your blog.
