Individual Project
Due session 14, 12/1/16
This is a solo project is done by you individually over the course of the entire semester.
In planning and making this artwork, you are encouraged but not required to work outside of what you normally do and what you normally feel comfortable with. This may involve working in a different medium; or combining media; or dealing with issues you normally haven't dealt with in your artwork.
There must be a significant digital component to your artwork, whether that is in the final product, or in the process, or both.
There are no restrictions on the content, ideas, or issues that you deal with in this artwork; they may be anything you wish. You could address an emotional issue, a social issue, an intellectual issue -- anything you are interested in. As you develop your project, there will be sessions devoted to critique and feedback from the entire class, as well as sessions of critique and feedback from the instructor.
Whatever your artwork deals with, however, it must do so in a substantive way. Another way of saying this is that it should be able to engage a smart, knowledgeable viewer in a meaningful way. A smart, knowledgeable viewer should be able to view or listen to or interact with your artwork for a significant amount of time and with significant interest.
This semester-long individual project overlaps your various shorter team projects. This means that you will have to carefully plan your time and work steadily on this project at the same time that you are working on the team projects. This individual project will be discussed and critiqued several times as you work on it and before you hand it in.
Final, finished project is due on the date indicated above.
