Select an animation or animation topic that is of interest to you and relevant to your practice as a fine-art animator. Possibilities might be an analysis of an individual animation, a particular artist’s body of animations, a set of related animations, a critical theory, a philosophical issue, a visual style, etc.. Note: This presentation is not about your own project. It should be relevant to your project, but it is not about your project. It is about the topic(s) you have researched.
Prepare a short, approximately 10-12 minute presentation for the class. Talk about why this animation is of interest to you artistically. Do not limit yourself to factual information or a re-telling of the events. Do not limit yourself to technical issues. Focus on why this work is significant or interesting to you artistically. Prepare accompanying visuals and text materials to show during your presentation. Limit the running time of an any animation you show to about three (3) minutes so that you will have enough time to analyze and discuss the work. (The file you create for your presentation may be in any format you choose – Pdf, Powerpoint, Flash, etc., but test it well before the presentation to make sure it runs on our teacher workstation. You will not hand in your presentation file to me.).
Also prepare a few questions to help lead the discussion in case your classmates don't have much to say in the discussion. Allow an additional 10 minutes for discussion of your presentation.
Finally, write a short approximately 3 - 4 page paper summarizing your research and your reactions to it. In addition to text, include relevant images, links to movie files, and other reference links in this paper. As in the presentation, make sure to focus on your personal thoughts and reactions to the material you researched.
On the day of your presentation, hand in to me a printed copy of your written paper. Also post a PDF version of your paper to your blog page.
