Studying and drawing cloth because of its complexity and (frequently) beauty. Studying the history of how others in earlier times and cultures have represented cloth, practicing, redoing, redrawing,....
First versions were done in charcoal from a photograph and are more mimetically realistic. Subsequent versions diverge more from the original and were in other other media (graphite, Conte, pastel) and focus more on the graphics and less on the mimetic realism. Some of the subsequent versions were drawn referencing the previous drawing rather than the photograph of the cloth; others were drawn entirely from memory. Most of the drawings were done on 24" x 20" Bristol board paper.
