Audio & Video Components

In addition to printed imagery, the mural includes live video and pre-recorded audio. Live video of the viewers and passersby is picked by a hidden video camera placed behind the mural wall and looking out through a small hole in the mural wall. This live video is composited with other pre-recorded video imagery and displayed in real-time on a small monitor at the center of the mural. The monitor is embedded within the printed imagery.

The audio comes from two speakers placed behind the mural wall at opposite ends of the mural. The audio is mixed so that viewers hear sometimes only the left channel, sometimes only the right, and sometimes both. Both the audio and video are controlled by a single desktop computer placed behind the mural wall.
