Although there is no expectation that a viewer would see or know this, this carved marble sculpture functions as is a very abstract representation of a reclining woman. For example, the cylindrical form could represent a breast. Next to that is a rectangular form with a roughly carved surface that could represent a head. The largest form represents a leg crossed over to one side.
