Fabrication

The fabrication of the mural is designed to permit easy transport and installation for temporary indoor exhibits. The mural is constructed of lightweight panels,each weighing approximately 7 pounds. Each panel is built from lightweight tiles. The tiles, and therefore the entire surface of the mural, are coated with a plastic sheet to protect the imagery from use and handling.

For installation, a skeletal structure is built of standard household aluminum studs. The panels are attached to this structure. The mural is mounted 2 feet above the ground. The space between the bottom of the mural and the floor is covered with a lightweight board, to conceal the studs and the multimedia equipment behind the mural.
